[Updated] The Crew 2 crashing issue after customizing Porsche 550 Spyder to be fixed "in the coming weeks", says support

Developed by Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft, The Crew 2 is an open-world racing game that was released in 2018. The map is a recreation of the United States of America.

Players can control various vehicles such as cars, board, planes, and motorcycles. It is also one of the few games that requires a constant internet connection.

But as is the case with every Ubisoft title, players have reported bugs and issues such as Low Poly Golden Smoke disappearing or missing from inventory.

That being said, The Crew 2 players are now reporting (1,2,3) that the game is crashing after customizing Porsche 550 Spyder. In case you did not know, the James Dean-owned Porsche 550 Spyder was recently added to the game.

But because of the crashing issue, many are unable to use the car in the first place. Generic solutions such as restarting the game, verifying files, and reinstalling do not make any difference.

Here are some reports from The Crew 2 players who are tired of the game crashing after customizing Porsche 550 Spyder.

Porsche 550 Spyder customization crashes. Exiting customization of Porsche 550 Spyder crashes the game. This is the 3rd time this has happened. After applying visual parts to the Porsche 550, exiting from the customization menu freezes the game for 1-2 seconds, the in game music stops, then the game immediately closes by itself out of nowhere.

Game keeps crashing after customizing the new Porsche
I have this issue that after I customize this new Porsche I can go back to the customization menu but when I want to go back to the vehicle selection, game freezes and turns off. So I wanted to know if this is only my issue or if others also have it. EDIT: After some checking it looks like only change of front or rear bumper causes game to crash.

Fortunately, The Crew 2 Support has acknowledged the crashing issue whenever players customize the Porsche 550 Spyder and said they are working on a fix that will be rolled out sometime in the coming weeks.
