[Updated] Twitch app still crashing on Fire TV, Xbox & PlayStation consoles, issue acknowledged
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on March 25, 2022) follows:
Twitch is one of the most popular live-streaming platforms. It allows streamers to directly interact with their followers during streaming sessions.
You can access Twitch through a web browser or dedicated apps. Twitch app is available for multiple platforms, including Fire TV and consoles.
In recent days, many users have been facing an issue where Twitch app is crashing on Fire TV, Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The company had submitted an alleged fix for it, but the app is still crashing.
Twitch app crashing on Fire TV, Xbox and PlayStation consoles
According to multiple reports, the Twitch app crashing issue occurs when trying to enter the app or a few seconds after uploading a preview to a channel you follow (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).
I’ve tried to start the the twitch app on my ps4, but now it crashes instantly and i get an error code. Well this one is well known because this CE Code looks still like a dummy to me(thx sony). Anyway delete and re-install doesn’t really help. I hope there will be a fix soon.
Twitch app instantly crashes on multiple devices
Tried to launch twitch on Xbox series and it opens, shows preview of live followed channel for about 2 seconds and then closes. I tried to launch twitch app on Android smart tv and the exact same problem.
Many of the related reports come from console users. But, there are also many Fire TV users affected by the Twitch app crashing issue.
I’m having issues with the firestick. It just crashes every time I try to open the app. I’ve restarted/reinstalled and still had the same issue.
Twitch team is aware, potential workaround for PS5
The issue originally surfaced on March 21 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). However, the company deployed a fix shortly after these reports emerged.
But, more reports of the Twitch app crashing issue continue to surface to this day.
So, Twitch posted a new official acknowledgment of the issue. Currently the company is working on a fix, but there is no ETA for it yet.
Hi Rayah, sadly some users are experiencing an issue with the PS5 app, but the team is aware and working on a fix! We don’t have an ETA to share, but once it’s ready we’ll get the fix out.
In the meantime, there is a workaround for PS5 that could help avoid the crash. Basically it consists of searching for your favorite channels by hovering over the app, avoiding accessing the Twitch app main screen.
On ps5 if u hover over the app and scroll down below the start button, there will be some streams u can access there and u can watch them. And if u want to watch other streamers just visit the channel of the streamer u clicked to open twitch with.
From there, u can choose browse and search at the top and watch whatever u want. But, any time u go on the twitch home page it’ll crash.
The Amazon team is also aware of the issue as it was escalated a few days ago.

I’m sorry your “Twitch” app crashes on your Fire TV Cube. I’ve reported this issue to our technical team, and they’re researching the issue further.
We will update this story once new details emerge on the subject.
