Original story (published on April 02, 2022) follows:

If you are a Halo fan, you must already be owning Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Developed by 343 Industries and published by Xbox Games Studios, it was originally released in November of 2014.

The collection includes several Halo titles such as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4.

Having said that, Halo MCC players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that the game servers are either down or not working right now.

Many are seemingly frustrated since they are handed out temporary bans after getting disconnected from the servers. Generic solutions such as restarting the game and verifying game files on Steam do not seem to make any difference.

Down detector – a popular service that gives information about live outages – also had a massive spike in the number of reports that indicated Halo MCC servers are down or not working.

A quick look at the micro-blogging site Twitter conveys that there are many others affected by the same issue. Below are some reports shared by Halo MCC players who are unable to play the game.

Halo MCC is broken for me. I can’t connect to any matches. By trying to connect to a Custom game server, the game tells me that the session has ended, even though it hasn’t. And then when I try to connect to a matchmade game tells me that the connection has interrupted.

@XboxSupport It’s super suspicious that only the Halo 3 matchmaking in MCC is not working. It’s almost as if you’re trying to force me to play infishit.

Thankfully, Halo Support has commented on the matter and said that they are currently investigating error faced by players in matchmaking. However, they did not share any timeframe on when the servers will be back up.

The #HaloMCC team is currently investigating reports of errors in matchmaking. Stay tuned for news, we’ll share updates on this outage here.

We hope Halo MCC soon find out the reason why the servers are down and fix them as soon as possible.

As always, we will be keeping tabs on the issue and update this article as and when we come across more information so make sure you stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
