[Updated] Fortnite 'crashing on PC' after Chapter 3 Season 2 update, issue acknowledged
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on March 22, 2022) follows:
In the last few years, Battle Royale shooting games have taken the video game industry by storm. While some prefer realistic gunplay and physics, others enjoy fast-paced and complex mechanics titles like Fortnite has to offer.
It is one of the most popular games to date despite being released in 2017, with more than 350 million registered players as of 2021.
While the developers bring in new content every now and then, several players complained that they experienced FPS drops due to DirectX 12 after the Chapter 3 Season 2 update.
The game seems to be crashing to the desktop randomly making it impossible for players to complete a match. Generic troubleshooting steps like reinstalling the game and restarting the system are not helping either.
You can see in the image below the error message some players are getting.
Below are some reports from Fornite players who are tired of the game crashing on PC.
@FortniteGame can’t even play the game anymore, as soon as I place builds in creative mode, my game just crashes. I’ve verified my game, switched with all directx modes, restarted my pc, updated drivers. Literally everything, and still crashing. Please help!
Ever since the season dropped the game is performind bad and crashing constantly. It’s literally unplayable right now, especially with the game suddenly crashing to desktop mid matches. Idk what the hell is going on, definitely wasn’t happen last season, game didn’t even crash once last season at all for me, so why does now it crashes everytime?
Many are wondering if and when the issue will be fixed so they can finally play the game.
As it turns out, Fortnite developers Epic Games have commented on the matter and said that they are aware of stability issues that cause crashing problems on the PC version of the game.
While they said that a fix is already underway, there is no ETA on when it will be rolled out.
We’re aware of stability issues for players on PC causing crashes. We’re currently working on a fix and will drop an update here when this is resolved.
We hope Fortnite developers soon release a patch that fixes the issue so players can enjoy the game once again. If and when they do, we will update this space to reflect the same so make sure you stay tuned.
