Developed by Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla arrived in 2018 as the most recent installment in the saga, being the successor to Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

The Valhalla story is quite separate from that of Odyssey as it is set in a Norse world (as opposed to Odyssey’s ancient Greek world).

Valhalla offers a lot of variety with regards to its gameplay mechanics. For example, throughout the world you will find various mounts that you can use.

However, there is a mount bug in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla where they appear visually distorted in Jotunheim and Asgard zones.

According to reports from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players, when you encounter a mount in Jotunheim, it’s likely to be visually distorted with its head notably stretched out, which some describe as ‘disturbing’ (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

asgard mount glitch

anybody know how to fix the asgard mount glitch? i’ve tried leaving and coming back but it’s still the same and i would like to see what it looks like with normal legs and an unstretched head

@UbisoftSupport Y’all should know, the mount in Asgard/Jotunheim is experiencing a… disturbing graphic issue. Doesn’t effect gameplay other than being very unsettling. It’s been like this for quite a while.

Asgard mount also affected by the bug

The issue reportedly can also happen if you find a mount in Asgard. The graphical effect is exactly the same as what happens in the Jotunheim area.

The whole time I was on Asguard my mount looked like this and was uncontrollable at some points until I got off and got back on, but still looked like something out of Silent hill 😆

Some players point out that the issue can happen when you find a Lynx/Lion mount in Asgard and Jotunheim.

In the Jotunheim world, the Mount is disfigured when it is called for the first time until you save and restart the game. Occasionally the mount will become disfigured again, saving and restarting fixes it again.

Ubisoft is aware, potential workaround

The Ubisoft team is already aware of the issue. Recently, the company revealed that they are working on a fix, and also recommend a potential workaround:

Thank you for getting in touch with us. This is something the team are aware of and is being worked on. For the moment, if you are using one of the Cat mounts in Midgard then un-equipping it should fix this stretching issues.

However, it seems that the visual glitch has been around for many months, as there are related reports from last year (2021). At that time, Ubisoft had already published an official acknowledgment of the issue.
