RuneScape high ping issues on all worlds trouble many, Jagex aware & looking into it

RuneScape is one of the longest running MMORPG games available. It has maintained a solid base of active players since its launch in 2001.

As in other similar games, in RuneScape you can explore a wide world full of dangers, quests, raids, items and more, either alone or with friends.

Having stable servers is one of the fundamental requirements for an MMO to work properly. However, many RuneScape players have been facing issues in this regard.

It seems that many have been experiencing high ping issues throughout the worlds of RuneScape for some time now (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Many reports related to the matter have been emerging in recent days. High ping issues negatively impact command response, affecting gameplay.

Suddenly today I’m getting 140+ ping on all worlds – usually I get around 30-40. Anyone else having issues?

I can barely move in game sometimes and its randomly freezing for a few seconds at a time. UNPLAYABLE!

Anyone else having issues today? I’ve tried resetting my router and everything.

There is NO issue with my internet, I’m getting 250 download and 250 upload and my ping says 3 on speedtests.

According to the reports, all West Coast Server worlds seem to be the most affected by the problem in question.

West Coast Server Connectivity Issues

A few days ago, my ping to all west coast worlds suddenly shot up by over 100. In worlds where I previously would have had 35 ping, I now have 140. At the time, a few other players had made posts about it so I was inclined to believe it was not just me. It’s now several days later, it hasn’t gotten any better, and I don’t know what else to do.

My UL/DL speeds are even at 172/172 mbps and no other game, site, or anything else internet-related is functioning abnormally.

The issue has been present for weeks

Although many reports about the issue have appeared in the last few days, the RuneScape high ping issue is not exactly new, as there have been related reports for at least 3 months.

High ping on all Worlds

For a past few days now, my ping has gotten noticeably worse, from 100-120ish its now 180-200+ on all worlds. Is there any way to reduce my ping? A VPN maybe? I’m really feeling the lag, and its really quite annoying to deal with timing on some bosses.

Jagex team is looking into it

Jagex team is already aware of the RuneScape high ping issue and is investigating. However, no information is available yet on an ETA for a fix.
