Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 21, 2022) follows:

Amazon Echo Dot 4th Gen is the latest version of Amazon’s most affordable smart speaker series.

The Amazon Echo Dot line seeks to offer all the fundamental smart speaker features (including support for Amazon Alexa voice commands), but in a small format and at a low price.

So, through the Amazon Echo Dot 4th Gen you can not only listen to music, but also control all compatible smart home devices with your voice, among other functions.

However, some users are facing sound quality issues. Apparently some Amazon Echo Dot 4th Gen units are suddenly producing crackling and static or white noises, with no apparent explanation.

Amazon Echo Dot 4th Gen crackling, static and white noises

According to multiple reports, some Amazon Echo Dot 4th Gen units randomly start making strange static and crackling noises.

In some cases, the issue seems to be related to the motion-detecting feature of the devices.

Weird noise problems with my Echo Dot 4th Gens

Most common thing that happens is I’ll hear a high-pitched whine, coming from any motion-detecting Echo. It’s random but very obvious. The reason I suspect it has to do with motion detection is when I walk up to it or near it, it goes away. I’ve got 1 in each room of the house, and they all do this.

The 2nd problem. I’ve had 2 different Echo Dots make the most horrifying static/screeching noise at what seems full volume until I unplug and replug it.

Meanwhile, other cases describe the static sound as a ‘white noise’ that appears when the device is ‘off’ but plugged in to power.

Am I going crazy? Sound and white noise of the speaker.

We have Echo at work sitting next to me and when in near silence I swear I can hear some noise coming from the Echo plugged in but “off”

There is large fish tank with filter making little noise I swear I can hear it of the speaker when I put my ear next to it. Unplugged the echo power and still can hear white noise. Is this just noise reflecting of the speaker I am going mad.
