Dying Light 2 is one of the most popular survival games. Developed by Techland, it has been available since December 2021 for multiple consoles (previous and current generation) and Windows OS.
However, many Dying Light 2 players are facing an issue that negatively impacts their inventory capacity.
Apparently, there is a Dying Light 2 inventory bug where the game is showing players that their inventories are full or out of space, even though there are more slots available (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).
Dying Light 2 Inventory full bug (slots full but look empty)
The issue in question is causing problems for many players as they cannot get more items even though their inventories show free slots (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).

Inventory full? (Valuables)
Anyone know why it’s saying my inventory is full when I try to grab valuables? I have only half the slots filled that it shows in the backpack. I swear I’ve never been halfway through looting and had a full inventory before so I’m not sure if it’s a bug or what ( estimated sell value is only 2940 )

Inventory full bug in Dying light 2
I have a bug where it says that I don’t have more space to take certain items and I can’t take them but actually I have zero in my inventory. For example this is happening with chamomile which means I can’t craft more medicine
Is Techland aware of this bug?

The issue can cause loss of valuable items
The visual bug can cause situations such as not being able to store in your inventory valuable items you get through the Dying Light 2 campaign.

In those cases, if you are lucky you will have free space in your stash, and those valuable items could end up there. However, you will lose the item if your stash is full and you are affected by the bug when you receive it.
My inventory was also full for this quest… And so was my stash… Meaning I never got the bow. I ended up having to buy a bow.

The explanation of the problem: clothes take up inventory slots
Apparently the whole problem is due to a visual bug. All your items share the capacity of your inventory, whose slots have a limit.
TL;DR despite being in different submenues, your valuables, crafting materials and clothes share the same inventory slots and they ARE limited. The game doesn’t tell you how many slots you have left, so be ready.
UPD2: The total slot limit is 103. For craftables, valuables and clothes. Same limit for player inventory and stash.
UPD3: It appears that the total slot limit is 100 + 1 for each nightrunner tool you unlocked.

However, you’re never really sure how many slots you have left since cosmetic items like clothing don’t visually count as slot-occupying items, but they do.

That’s because “other items” are taking up your inventory, it’s not that you have to much honey or tech…you just have the max amount of individual slots filled

So, the Dying Light 2 inventory UI requires tweaking to make it clear that clothing also takes up inventory slots, and to show the player exactly how many slots are available.
There is no official acknowledgment on the issue from Techland yet. We will update this story if there is any news related to the matter.
