YouTube is the largest video-sharing platform with more than 2 billion active users. While the service is free to use, YouTube Premium and Music have more than 50 million subscribers combined.

The developers launched YouTube Music in 2015, featuring a user-friendly interface that allows users to easily find and listen to music. It also has an Android app that allows for background playback for Premium users.

Users also have the option to download and listen to their favorite music offline. But according to recent reports (1,2,3,4,5) from YouTube Music users, many are now saying that songs are not loading or buffering.

This is making it impossible for many to use the service since the music stops playing randomly. It looks like the problem is only affecting those using YouTube Music on Android.

Users said they tried common solutions such as clearing app data, cache, and reinstalling the app but nothing works. Below are some reports from YouTube Music subscribers for whom songs are not loading.

My songs used to load seamlessly, and now some songs don’t load at all or only load the first 10 seconds and then freeze. If it begins to play it’ll randomly freeze and I have to wait for it to load. I would admit if it was a connection issue on my end, but I don’t have any problem loading my podcasts on the YouTube app and those are 1.5hrs-3hrs VIDEOS compared to a 2-4min songs. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or has a solution.

This has only started popping up within the last few days, and only while I’m hooking my phone up to my Aux cable, particularly in my car. To put it simply, some songs load, some will just endlessly spin and not load. Some adds work, others don’t. Sometimes the adds work, but the music won’t load. Sometimes I can get a few songs to play in a row, but then I’ll encounter a situation where the song just doesn’t load again. Sometimes I can bypass this by skipping several songs. But I just encounter the same not losding problem several minutes later. On Wifi this is not an issue.

While some say the problem persists even if they switch to Wi-Fi, others disagree and say they are facing the issue regardless of their connection.

Unfortunately, the developers are yet to acknowledge the issue where YouTube Music is not loading songs on the Android app. As always, we will update this space as and when we come across more information so stay tuned.
