[Updated] Fix for World War 3 'Something went wrong' error when clicking 'Customize' still in the works, no ETA available

World War 3 is a multiplayer tactical FPS developed by The Farm 51. As its name suggests, the game is set in an imaginary scenario where various events caused a third world war.

The World War 3 developers sought to represent the conflict as faithfully as possible. For that, they implemented weapons, strategies and equipment directly inspired by the real world.

However, some World War 3 players are facing an issue that does not allow them to customize their characters during matches.

There is a ‘Something went wrong’ error message that players receive when clicking the ‘Customize’ button during a World War 3 match, according to multiple reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

The issue occurs when players want to enter the customization tab during a match to modify their character’s loadout.

Once players select the ‘Customize’ option, players will get the ‘Something went wrong’ error message.

Hey I have a problem, when I want to enter the personalise tab it shows an error “cannot read property ‘config’ of undefined, and then long long list of what I assume are crash messages all starting with in. Any advice what to do?

Will we be able to customize our weapons attachments/customization while in battle in the future instead of only using what’s in the backpack?

When you get the error message, the game crashes and restarts completely. So, you are kicked out of the match, which could count as an abandonment.

World War 3 had already presented problems with the customization on last January. However, on that occasion, error messages appeared when trying to customize an entire match or when choosing a custom match.

At that time, the company confirmed that they were already aware of this problem and that they were working on it.

The World War 3 developers recently confirmed that they are also aware of the issue that does not allow character customization during a match.

04:53 pm (IST): World War 3 on Twitter has announced that the game servers will be under maintenance at 13:00 CET to address the customization screen error and invisible barrel, banner & emblem issues.
