New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 25, 2022) follows:

Developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Elden Ring is an open-world RPG game. The game takes place after the destruction of Elden Ring and the shattering of Great Runes.

The third-person game focuses on combat and exploration with elements similar to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Just after a few minutes after it was launched, the title smashed player records for Sekiro and Dark Souls 3.

Having said that, Elden Ring players are now reporting (1,2,3,4) that the controller is not working on the PC version of the game. This is a really serious issue since many are unable to play the game.

Players say they tried reconnecting their controller and restarting the game but nothing seems to work.

Controller not working.
Have changed and launched the game with all the possible settings from YouTube videos and articles but nothing is working. I had 0 issues with Sekiro but I am at a lose. Have restarted everything. Disabled and enabled, forced on and forced off, big picture and normal modes. It’s getting extremely irritating. Can anyone help?

I know this isn’t a hardware problem either, cause I can play on M+K. I have tried every “solution” the people have put out. I’ve unplugged all other usb devices before launching the game. I’ve gone and into controller properties and turned off and on steam input multiple times, and gone into big picture mode to see if that changes anything. I’ve gone into general controller settings, and made sure my controller was detected(it is, I can play any other game on steam)

Unfortunately, Elden Ring developers are yet to acknowledge the issue where controller is not working on the PC version of the game. However, we did come across a workaround that might help resolve the issue.

The first one involves connecting the controller and disconnecting the keyboard before launching the game. You can reconnect the keyboard after launching the game.

Hey just a heads up if you’re having controller connection problem for Elden Ring on PC.
I had to start the game with my controller connected, and keyboard disconnected. Once the game was started, I plugged the keyboard back in and everything worked fine. Have fun!

The second workaround involves disabling the HID-compliant game controller from Human Interface Devices from the Device Manager.
