[Updated] Elden Ring missing inventory items, chest items returning to inventory & drops not spawning issues surface

Elden Ring recently arrived as From Software’s latest ‘Souls-like’ game. It maintains all the hallmarks of the company’s games and adds interesting improvements.

However, the game came out with some glitches that require a fix to achieve the best experience possible. PC gamers are the most affected due to serious performance and crashing issues.

There are other problems that can make gameplay a bit cumbersome. For instance, some players are facing issues with inventory, chests, and some drops, according to multiple reports.

More specifically, inventory items are missing for some Elden Ring players, while items stored in a chest are returned to their inventory. Also, some drops are not spawning where they should.

In chests you can store items to free up your inventory, making navigating the UI less cumbersome.

However, some Elden Ring players are facing an issue where items stored in a chest are automatically returned to their inventory (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).

Chest not working?

I keep trying to put my extra loot into the chest, but whenever I look in it again, it is in my inventory again. It stays showing in the chest until I leave and re-enter a site of grace. I am on Xbox series S. Any help would be appreciated!

A slightly more serious issue is also related to inventory. Apparently, items suddenly disappear from the inventory of some Elden Ring players (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Stone Miners Bell vanished?

Summoned a companion to help me take on the Stone Miner and we ended up beating him and it said I received his Bell Bearing. I’ve checked my inventory, my chest, and it’s not there. It says I need to offer it to the Twin Maidens to be able to buy level 1 and 2 smiting stones, so am I just screwed now?

The reports about missing items in Elden Ring reached the From Software team. The company recommends gamers on PC to check if the game file is installed normally.

However, there is no information about a possible fix to the issue yet.

The last issue affects drops in the game. Apparently, items that should drop when opening certain chests are not spawning when the player opens them (1, 2).

Also, some Elden Ring players are not getting the drops they should be receiving from defeating certain enemies or bosses.

Bug in game?

I just killed magma wyrm in Gael tunnel but he didn’t drop the moonlight katana just a rune arc? So killed him again and same thing Checked inventory and chest and it’s not there? Is it because I killed him cooperatively or bc my inventory for swords might have been full? So confused.
