Discord phone number verification not working (unable to access account) issue reported by many

Initially released in 2015, Discord is an instant messaging and VoIP platform where users can communicate using various channels such as video and voice calls, text, and sharing files.

In the last few years, Discord has gained massive popularity and is the go-to place for gamers. As of 2021, the platform had more than 150 million active monthly users.

The service has come a long way and recently changed its motto from ‘Chat for Gamers’ to ‘Chat for Communities and Friends’.

But as is the case with the majority of apps, users do encounter bugs and issues every now and then such as the recently reported issue where ‘Return’ or ‘Enter’ key is not sending messages on iPad.

While some of these cause minor annoyances, Discord users are now saying (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that the phone number verification is not working.

Hey, long time-user and payer, love Discord. My account needs to be phone verified and I don’t receive the SMS. I’ve tried two different phone numbers. What’s up? Can I get a hand please? I use Discord for work, it’s time-sensitive. I’ve tried both via my settings and via a phone-restricted server. Thanks in advance.

@Discord Could you Please Help me? My ticket literally said I need to verify my phone But… I Literally cant, My phone number is saying its invalid, I use another number and get no code. But I had my number before on discord And it got removed for some reason, I didnt did that

This is a really serious issue since many are not getting the verification SMS and as a result, are unable to access their accounts. Users say they tried logging out and waiting for SMS with some even reinstalling the app altogether but it looks like nothing helps.

As it turns out, Discord is yet to officially comment on the matter. We hope the developers find out the root cause of the issue and fix it as soon as possible.
