Twitter is one of the leading social networks as well as a trusted marketing and communication channel worldwide. With more than 206 million monetizable daily active users in 2021, the majority of users reside in the United States, Japan, and India.

The social media platform allows users to share their thoughts with other people in the form of short messages that have an upper limit of 280 characters, whereas audio and video are limited to 140 seconds.

Having said that, like all other online services, Twitter users are no strangers to bugs and issues. A few days ago, many complained about the auto-refreshing timeline making a comeback and the translate tweet function not working.

And as it turns out, another issue has surfaced with several Twitter users saying (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that they are getting ‘News for You’ notifications despite choosing the ‘See less often’ button.

Many are angry and frustrated since they are getting news in notifications and have no way to disable this. Some say they tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but nothing seems to help right now.

At the same time, Twitter keeps pushing their “news for you” propaganda into my notifications despite every time it shows up I click the “see less often” button. Only the official narrative will be tolerated, to have a dissenting opinion is to suffer from unacceptable thinking.

Really, Twitter, what part of your own “see less often” function don’t you understand? If I want to read about Russia and Ukraine, I’ll look it up for myself. I shall Endeavor to find out if there is a way to turn off “news for you” entirely.

As it turns out, Twitter Support has commented on the matter and said the company is aware of the situation and that they will share the feedback with the concerned team. However, there is no ETA on when the issue will be resolved.

We hope Twitter developers take a look at the feedback and give users the option to disable the ‘News for You’ notifications entirely.
