New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 29, 2022) follows:

Fortnite is the hit action game focused on the battle-royale genre. The objective of this type of game is to survive to be the last player left alive in the match.

Fortnite stands out among its rivals thanks to the additional possibilities offered by its particular ‘building’ mechanic during matches. Also, it usually receives new content constantly, which includes skins.

However, in recent weeks, Fortnite players have found a curious bug disguised as a skin. Apparently, while players are in the lobby, their character’s outfit turns bright blue with a ‘hologram effect’ (1, 2, 3, 4).

Fortnite character outfit glows blue in lobby

According to multiple reports, the bug can happen randomly when players are in the lobby, waiting to join a new match. It produces the aforementioned effect that looks like a new skin, but is actually a glitch.

So this lobby glitch has been happening to some of us where it makes us all blue. Well it happened to me with The Visitor and it made it so you can see his face.

Skin always appears as a blue blob on PS4 when I change skins now. Been going on since Klombo update. It doesn’t go away until I completely restart the game but then does it again if I change skins

Happened to me just now. Character just stayed a blue glow in the lobby after coming back from game. Anyone have this happen?

Can cure by selecting a different skin in your locker..

Having said the above, the problem would only occur when the player is in the lobby. That is, once the match starts, the player’s character skin is displayed normally without any problem. Gameplay is also unaffected.

Epic Games is aware, potential workaround

Having said the above, the Epic Games team is already aware of the reported glitch. They reflect this on their official Trello board, where the issues the company is working on are listed.

Description

Sometimes player outfits will glow with a bright blue ‘hologram’ effect when in the lobby.

Workaround

Joining a match or changing the outfit in the locker may fix the issue.

To the above, they also adds a potential workaround that could help players to mitigate the glitch. Basically, it is recommended to change the outfit of their characters in the locker.
