Elden Ring players report 'Touch bloodstain' prompt not working or broken (potential workaround inside)

Elden Ring is the latest From Software ‘Souls-like’ game. Like other similar games, it challenges you to survive in a huge world where any enemy can be a great danger if you don’t calculate every move you make.

The world of Elden Ring offers useful elements to help you on your adventure. Some of these elements work when you play online, like bloodstains.

A bloodstain allows you to see the last seconds of another Elden Ring player before dying. This serves as a warning, as multiple bloodstains in an area indicate that there is great danger nearby.

However, it seems that the ‘Touch bloodstain’ prompt is not working for Elden Ring players on PC and PS5 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).

When you find a bloodstain in Elden Ring, you get a ‘Touch bloodstain’ prompt that allows you to interact with it by pressing the button/key.

But, currently, the bloodstains are not working for some as nothing happens when they press the button to interact with them.

Touching a bloodstain does nothing, no spirit shows up.
Tho im using a group password from a youtuber, these bloodstains show a spirit. Can i fix this somehow?

Apparently this is an impossible task on PC. Also defaulting to controller settings when downloading on steam via PC is super dumb. K done bitching, enjoy the game.

When I touch bloodstain the game doesn’t show anything, what am I missing?

And yes my internet is fine, I can see other player’s ghosts running around.

PS5 and PC could be the platforms most affected by the issue, according to multiple reports. On Xbox consoles, the Elden Ring ‘Touch bloodstain’ prompt should be working properly.

Worked on series x. My buddy sent me a PS5 code so we could co-op and that’s the first thing I noticed. They’re not working. Frame rate is kind of sucking on the PS5 too. Not being a hater. I own both consoles. Ones got a shit frame rate with crazy pop in. The other doesn’t.

Having said that, bloodstains reportedly work best when you’re in a passworded group. However, even under these conditions the prompt behavior is still irregular:
