Developed by Facepunch Studios and Double Eleven, Rust is a multiplayer survival video game that was released in February of 2018. It is inspired by Day Z and Minecraft.

The main objective of players in Rust is to survive the wilderness by gathering or stealing materials. Since its release, the developers have updated the game with new content and added several new features.

But like every online multiplayer title, some bugs and issues do surface from time to time. Having said that, Rust players say (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) they are having low FPS and experiencing stutters after a recent update.

Many say that the performance has dropped significantly and that the game sometimes freezes for a second or two. The issue seems to be affecting the majority of players and is ruining the gameplay experience.

Players say they verified game files with some even reinstalling the game but that did not help either. You can read below what some Rust players affected by low FPS and stutters have to say.

Hi! Ive been experiencing some really low FPS in rust this wipe. I cannot seam to go over 65 at any given moment. This is new. Normally i would run around 90 atleast. Cannot seam to find why this is happening. GPU sits at a cool 30-40% and the highest usage on any given CPU core ive seen is around 80. I cant seam to figure out what is happening. To me it really looks like the game is capped at 65 frames. But no v-sync or fps cap is enabled.

Hey! Since today Rust hasn’t felt like it used to, it feels laggy, choppy and just not smooth. Even though I have the right amounts of fps in the game 60-75 today. (This is sandbox, 100~ ). The game itself feels like its slightly stuttering. Currently it just doesn’t want to go over 75% usage of the gpu. When I boost all the settings to the max it maybe goes to 80% usage. The game used to run at least at 100% ~ usage and I would get a normal FPS average of 100 in any server, sometimes even 110 fps +. Right now I get 60 fps in servers and it doesn’t want to go over 75% gpu usage at all.

As it turns out, Rust developers are yet to acknowledge the low FPS issue. Thankfully, we came across a workaround that might help with the problem.

A bunch of players say closing or deleting the Valorant anti-cheat called Vanguard seems to fix the low FPS and frequent stutters.

Do you have fps problems atm? I have a possible fix.
Try closing or deleting valorants anticheat called vanguard. Seems to be the problem for most people who has hz lock or delay feel in past few days.
