COD: Warzone is the first battle royale set in Activision’s iconic Call of Duty series. The game’s wide availability and free-to-play format boosted its popularity.

Like other similar games, its developers push new content constantly to keep players interested. The content can include new skins, weapons and items, among other things.

However, sometimes the weapons in the game are not well balanced after an update. That’s what seems to have happened with a couple of weapons in the last few weeks.

Many COD: Warzone players report that the PPSH (a type of SMG) and the Bren light machine gun are breaking the game due to the many advantages they offer, without the need for skill (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

COD: Warzone players demand a nerf to the PPSH SMG

According to multiple reports, the COD: Warzone PPSH can deal a very high level of damage in a short time, which makes it an ‘insta-kill’ weapon (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10).

In addition to the above, the weapon is not very heavy and its magazine has room for a good amount of bullets. It can even hit at long range without too much trouble (1, 2, 3).

Has Raven lost its damn mind? (PPSH stealth buff)

In case you’ve missed it, the Vanguard PPSH has been stealth buffed recently, giving it the potential to kill faster than the AS Val and FFAR ever have. Pair that with good mobility, a 71 round mag and pinpoint accurate hipfire (you literally do not need to ads at all out to 15m if you build it right) and you’ve got yourself one of the most broken automatic weapons in the history of Warzone.

Some players suggest that a ‘vaulting mechanic’ is needed in COD: Warzone as an alternative to be able to counter such weapons.

The PPSH “buff” is yet another prime example of how badly this game needs a vaulting mechanic

I understand its the weekend and because how Raven works we shouldn’t expect a change / fix to the PPSH until probably Tuesday at the soonest – which means it will run wild for the at least the rest of the weekend – just like we’ve seen with things like stim glitches/invisibility glitches/DMR zone/etc.

A nerf also needed for the Bren light machine gun

The case of the Bren weapon is similar to the previous one as it offers a set of perks and advantages that make it practically impossible to counter it through gameplay mechanics (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

According to multiple reports, the Bren light machine gun in COD: Warzone combines high damage, high shooting accuracy, and great long-range shooting.

How is this subreddit not on fire over the Bren?

Am I completely out of loop or is the Bren one of the worst offenders of poor weapon balancing this game has ever seen? It deletes players with less than ten bullets, it is laser accurate, and shooting at a sniper with this thing you are a bigger threat to the sniper than he is to you on pretty much all distances.

In addition to all of the above advantages, the weapon reportedly has a very slight recoil. So, practically it has no drawbacks or weak points.

For the love of all that is holy, nerf the Bren

This gun is by far the most broken thing about this game at this point. Once mounted it essentially has no recoil, hits like a sniper and can’t miss. Nerf this damn gun and get rid of incendiary rounds.

Update 1 (February 23)

09:57 am (IST): Raven Software has acknowledged the issue where PPSh-41 (VG)’s damage intensity is more than intended. Moreover, they are working to bring the weapon back in line.

Update 2 (February 25)

10:52 am (IST): A new patch for COD: Warzone is now available and it brings a bunch of bug fixes. This patch also fixes the damage intensity issue of PPSh-41 (VG).

Fixed an issue causing higher-than-intended Max/Mid/Min damage values for the PPSh-41 (VG). (Source)
