[Updated] Cyberpunk 2077 'The data is corrupted' issue on PS4 acknowledged

Developed by the same studio that brought us the likes of The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077 is an action RPG game that was released in December 2020. The open-world game is set in the fictional Night City.

While players and critiques have praised the game for its stunning visuals, narrative, and cyberpunk world, Cyberpunk 2077 has had its fair share of bugs and issues.

As a result, a class-action lawsuit was filed against CD Projekt Red accusing the studio of downplaying the technical glitches and releasing an unfinished product.

While the developers have fixed the majority of issues, new ones are still popping up. That being said, Cyberpunk 2077 players are saying (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that they are unable to play the game and are getting a ‘the data is corrupted’ error on PS4.

It looks like the issue surfaced after the recent 1.5 patch. Players say they are frustrated that the developers are still unable to release an update without major issues.

Here are some reports from players who updated to Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.5 and are getting ‘the data is corrupted’ error message on their PS4.

Is Cyberpunk unplayable on base PS4 now? It says the data was corrupted and to delete the game. I did it, and it still says that the data is corrupted. I have no idea what to do. I’ve been looking forward to trying this all day. Any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks chooms.

So. The game is completely unplayed now. Not even joking. Havent played the game in a while, saw it got updated, so thought id jump back in. 3 hours later after the update is done, go to launch the game, and my data is “corrupted”. Uninstall and reinstall, like it said to do, which took 5 HOURS. Went to launch the game and still corrupted. Wtf is this shit. On PS4 btw.

Thankfully, Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red seem to be aware of the issue and said they are looking into the problem. However, there is no ETA on when it will be fixed.

03:42 pm (IST): A new software update for the PS4 is now live and it brings a fix for the issue where the disc version of Cyberpunk does not launch.
