Valorant is a popular multiplayer FPS developed by Riot Games. The game is currently available for Windows OS devices, although the company could be considering a version for consoles.

Valorant’s gameplay focuses on 5 vs 5 team battles. Its ‘Hero shooter’ style approach allows you to develop various strategies taking advantage of the unique abilities of each character.

Recently, the game received the 4.03 update with some bug fixes and gameplay tweaks. However, it appears that the patch severely impacted an important aspect of Deathmatch mode.

After Valorant’s 4.03 update, the spawning behavior in Deathmatch mode causes characters to respawn right in front of the enemy, which results in a serious problem (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15).

Multiple reports on platforms such as Twitter and Reddit reflect the discontent of Valorant players with the changes in the spawn system.

The issue mainly affects Deathmatch mode, and causes situations like spawning right in front of an enemy just to die instantly. Then, if you are unlucky, your character will respawn right next to another enemy (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12).

Deathmatch Spawning Issues

Is it just me or do DM spawns feel worse? It’s only been 3 games and I’ve been spawning right next to people, especially on fracture(A. dish). Though it’s less frustrating because of the shorter respawn timing, DM still hasn’t been enjoyable.

Honestly, though the 4.03 patch sought to fix DM, it only really created more spawning issues.

The deathmatch spawns are even worse…

I didn’t think it was possible but since the new update, the spawns are horrendous. I’m spawning in front of people and they are spawning behind me. They said they fixed the spawns but somehow made it worse. Unreal.

Reduction in player count as a temporary solution

The Riot Games team is aware of the spawning issue in Valorant Deathmatch mode. The company reduced the number of players per game to 12 (from 14) as a temporary solution while they investigate the situation.

We heard you on the rough Deathmatch experience post-Patch 4.03 (like spawning in direct line of sight).

So we’re reducing the number of players in Deathmatch from 14 to 12, immediately. This should mitigate these issues—and we’ll keep an eye on the situation.

However, some players have their doubts about whether this decision will have any positive effect on the game. They claim that the spawn issue occurs even in 4 player matches:

Furthermore, some even preferred to keep the 14-player matches and the current state of the spawn system, as they consider that it improves the pace of battles:

We don’t play deathmatch to win we play it as a warmup, reducing players makes it a very slow and drawn out process, the last version was fine bar sometimes bad spawns but way better pacing👍 pls fix @PlayVALORANT.
