Original story (published on February 14, 2022) follows:

Starcraft II is a real-time strategy video game that was launched back in 2010. Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, the developers have added several expansion packs to the game.

The game follows in the footsteps of its predecessor and revolves around three species, namely the Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss.

It is set four years after the events of the Brood War and explores the life of Jim Raynor, who leads a group of insurgents against the Terran Dominion.

That being said, Starcraft II players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that they are unable to log in to the server with the game saying that Battle.net is down.

However, it looks like the outage is limited to the Blizzard Americas server with many saying that European and Korean servers are working just fine. You can see in the image below how the error message looks like for those affected.

@Blizzard_Ent I have a bought and paid for copy of StarCraft 2 and your servers decided that I’m not allowed to play (they claim to be “temporarily down” but it’s only for returning players) Any chance you could fix this? Or am I rooting for @Microsoft to fix your crappy system?

Issue with US blizzard server
When opening SC2 I get the error, “There is a temporary outage of the Battle.net service. Please try again later.” This only happens on US region. I tried in EU and had no problem. Is anyone else having this issue?

Players are frustrated and are wondering when the problem will be fixed since the servers have been down for almost a week now.

Thankfully, Blizzard Entertainment has commented on the matter and said that they are aware of the issue where Starcraft II players are getting Battle.net down error.

However, they did not share any timeframe on when the server will be fixed.

We are currently seeing an increase of players reporting “There is a temporary outage of the Battle.net service. Please Try again later.” We are currently investigating this issue as quickly as possible. It would be nice to know if you all can access other regions such as EU or Korea and if this problem is just the Americas. Thank you.

Update 1 (February 16)

05:44 pm (IST): A customer support representative on the community forums confirmed that the issue should now be resolved.
