Vanguard is the 18th installment in the Call of Duty series. After Activision’s decision to ditch Raven Software in favor of Sledgehammer Games, players thought the game will be pretty stable.

But since Vanguard launched in November last year, numerous bugs and issues have surfaced such as the issue where the game was crashing on the menu screen after a recent Battle.net maintenance.

That being said, Xbox users are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that Call Of Duty Vanguard is not loading for them. Others say that they are facing connectivity issues and are unable to get past ‘fetching online profile’.

Players said they tried restarting their console, soft resetting, cleaning the persistent storage, and reinstalling but the problems still persist.

As it turns out, Rainbow Six Siege players recently complained about connectivity issues. But Xbox Support is yet to confirm if Vanguard is affected as well.

Below are some reports from Call of Duty Vanguard players who are unable to load the game or facing connectivity issues.

Anyone else not able to load vanguard up on Xbox after the new update gets all the way to fetching online profile then just kicks back to Xbox home screen? Guess I shouldn’t expect an update to not break the game…

Game closes after 10 Second…
Since the new update today I can’t even get into a game. After a few seconds the game closes and I’m on the dashboard. Sometimes the game is “installing an update” after this. And after 1 sec. It’s ready Does anyone else have this Problem? I’m on Xbox Series S

Players say they are frustrated by Sledgehammer Games’ incompetence and are wondering if they even test the update before making it available to everyone.

Fortunately, Sledgehammer Games has commented on the matter and said that they are investigating the issue where Vanguard is not loading for some on the Xbox. But there is no ETA on when it will be fixed.

We’re aware that Vanguard players on Xbox may be experiencing connectivity issues post-update today. We are actively investigating this issue and will provide an update as soon as we identify the cause.

Update 1 (February 12)

01:10 pm (IST): Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that they are currently testing a fix for the post-update connectivity issues some Vanguard players are experiencing.

Update 2 (February 14)

09:34 am (IST): Sledgehammer Games has deployed a new patch for players on Xbox and PC. This patch is aimed to fix the connectivity issue at the game start-up that triggered after the previous update.
