Minecraft is definitely one of the greatest video games of all time. Featuring virtually endless terrain using procedural generation, the sandbox game is developed by Mojang Studios.

Back in 2014, Microsoft set its eyes on the game and bought it for a whopping $2.5 billion. In the last few years, Minecraft has seen a massive increase in the player base and has a monthly active player count of more than 141 million.

That being said, some players recently complained that they were unable to play multiplayer since the server was down.

And now, it looks like Minecraft players are now saying (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that they are getting a ‘Could not connect: outdated Server error’.

Many say that the issue surfaced after the 1.18.10 update and is preventing them from connecting to their favorite Realm.

@MojangSupport Me & my friend have trouble joining eachother’s worlds, it says as follows “Could not connect: Outdated Server!” even though this world is brand new & we both have the lastest update, Have any idea why this is happening?

Bedrock Realm Outdated Server
So I’m on a realm on xbox and just updated it. When I tried to join, it said outdated server and my friend is the owner so he’s updated his game and joined but it still says outdated server for me. Other friends are able to play in the realm aswell. How do i fix this?

Cant play multiplayer – “Could not connect: Outdated Client!”
My son and I play on one of my local worlds together. Up until this afternoon we haven’t had any issues but now hes getting “Could not connect: Outdated Client!” when trying to join into my world. Im on windows bedrock 1.18.1, hes on ios PE 1.18.2 His ipad said that there was an update installed today (assuming .2). When I try to update on windows it keeps telling me I’m up to date. Do I need to be 1.18.2 to fix this? and is it possible for me to manually do that?

Unfortunately, Minecraft developers are yet to acknowledge the issue. We hope they soon find out the root cause of the matter and fix the Outdated Server error Minecraft players are complaining about.

In the meantime, you can try using this workaround and see if it helps you connect to Minecraft server.

Update 1 (August 10)

03:30 pm (IST): Minecraft players are again reporting the issue where they are getting ‘Could not connect: Outdated Server’ error when trying to play with friends.

This issue appears to have popped up after the recent update and is apparently happening as most of the players are running the older version of Minecraft. Moreover, it should be fixed as gamers update to the latest version.
