Amazon Music is a popular music streaming service and an online music store similar to Spotify and Apple Music. First available back in 2007, Amazon Music grew rapidly in popularity and now has more than 75 million songs in its library.

It also happens to be the first music store to sell music without DRM. Amazon Music is one of the few services that offer lossless music. In January 2020, the service had more than 55 million users worldwide.

That being said, the app allows users to download their favorite music tracks and listen offline. But now Amazon Music subscribers are reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that they cannot find the music file even if they have downloaded the song.

Others say they cannot download their purchased songs at all. It is a really serious issue since the bug is making Amazon Music useless for many.

Some say they tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing app data and cache, and even logging out and in again but nothing seems to work. Here is what some of the complainants have to say.

I’m not sure what happened since the most recent update, but I can no longer download music I purchased to my Android device, Galaxy S21 Plus. The only way I can play the music is through the Android app, and this was not the case before. I have purchased many albums through the Amazon music store. I have always been able to download the songs I have purchased to local storage on my device. This appears to have been taken away, making purchasing music through Amazon useless.

Absolutely horrible. You’ll lose all the songs on your device (sd card), and the latest update doesn’t let you download onto your device. So the only way to listen to the songs purchased on Amazon is now ONLY on the Amazon Music app, which is completely unreliable. Rip-off by Amazon. Buy your songs elsewhere or be stuck using the Amazon Music app. Seriously, BEWARE! Every time they make a change to the app, it is to the customers’ detriment.

On the brighter side, Amazon Music developers are aware of the bug preventing users from downloading their purchased songs or finding the associated file on their device.

They said that the issue is currently under investigation and that they are working on a solution. But did not share any ETA on when it will be fixed.

As always, when the developers fix the bug, we will be updating this space so stay tuned.

Update 1 (February 09)

03:53 pm (IST): Users who are still having this issue can try the workaround suggested by an Amazon Staff member and see if it helps.
