Hearthstone is a collectible card game developed by Blizzard Entertainment, the same studio that brought us the likes of Overwatch and World of Warcraft.

Released in 2014, it is a turn-based game where players have to build a deck consisting of 30 cards in addition to a hero with unique powers. As of 2022, Hearthstone has more than 3.5 million players worldwide.

While the game is pretty stable, players do encounter some bugs and issues every once in a while. That being said, Hearthstone players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that duels are not working.

Some say that the game crashes for them while others said that they are unable to resume the game since the button is not working.

Unfortunately, reinstalling the game seems to make no difference. Below are some of the reports shared by Hearthstone players who are unable to play duels.

I just lost my third match in Duels and the game crashed almost immediately when the match ended. When I relaunched the game and went to the Duels screen, it says “resume”. I click resume and nothing happens. The resume button gets greyed out and I can’t click out of anything and am forced to restart the client. I tried both mobile and pc and still have the same result. I can’t collect my rewards for the run, and I can’t start a new round of Duels. I just want to play it at this point and don’t even care about the rewards.

Started a Heroic Duels run before the patch, without selecting character or deck. Came back to the game after the patch, and my Duels has a “Resume” button. When I click the button, not only can I not play, but it freezes my game entirely. I have tried to contact Blizzard support but there is an “error” when submitting tickets, go figure. Please help.

Thankfully, Hearthstone developers have acknowledged the issue with duels and said that they would fix it in patch 22.4. They also shared a workaround that seems to be helping some.

Developers also asked players not to close the client during the last game of the Heroic Duels run. Instead, they can use the concede function or let the game reach its conclusion and collect the rewards before closing the game.

That being said, when Blizzard Entertainment releases the 22.4 patch that fixes the issue with Hearthstone duels, we will update this space so stay tuned.
