It is up against other big names in the industry like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video.

But for several weeks now, some users have been facing an annoying issue that directly interferes with the experience by appearing in the middle of shows.

More specifically, an ‘are you still watching?’ message appears while some Paramount Plus users are enjoying a show, for no apparent reason (1, 2, 3, 4).

Paramount Plus ‘are you still watching?’ message issue

According to multiple reports, the annoying pop-up message can appear at any time. So, it can interrupt the live streaming of a sporting event, or break the tension of a dramatic scene.

getting pretty annoyed that I’m being asked if I’m still watching in the middle of a football game, just another thing on the list of things you need to fix for your coverage of games. Priority is obviously being able to start the game from the beginning when live and having to wait so long for match replays is ridiculous.

So I’m almost to the end of a very tense scene and suddenly Paramount asks me Are you still watching?!! O.k., the tension is broken and in the few seconds that it takes them to come back, I’ve missed a pivotal piece of the action! Thanks, idiots! WTH??

It should be noted that the issue has now been present for several weeks, with reports dating back to last December.

This type of message should appear when the service detects that the user is not viewing any content or hasn’t interacted with the interface for a while. Therefore, if it appears while watching a show, it is annoying and intrusive.

Paramount Plus team is already aware

Recently, the Paramount Plus team confirmed that they are already aware of the reports. The company is looking into it, while requesting more feedback from users to find the cause of the issue.

Hi, our team is looking into this. Could you please let us know what device you’re watching on? Does this only happen when you’re watching games streamed by Paramount Plus, or does it also happen during games streamed by 10Play? Thanks 🙏

At the moment, it only remains to wait for the company to offer details on the progress of the situation in the near future. Once new updates related to the matter arise, we will update this article to keep you informed.
