Assassin's Creed Valhalla GeForce Now launch error & 'Majesty in the Dark' (unable to interact with Toka) issue under investigation

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the most recent installment in the saga of adventure and action games developed by Ubisoft. Unlike previous versions, the game is set in Norse mythology.

One of the options that players have to enjoy the game is GeForce Now. For those who don’t know, GeForce Now is NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service.

Through NVIDIA GeForce Now, you can enjoy games with very high quality graphics depending on your internet connection without requiring all the necessary hardware.

Having said that, some Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players are experiencing a launch error via GeForce Now. In addition, others are reporting a bug that causes the game to get stuck in the ‘Majesty in the Dark’ quest.

According to multiple reports, some Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players are unable to access the game through the GeForce Now launcher. Instead, all they get is an error message preventing progress (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).

I recently bought AC Valhalla, on January 6th. I’ve been trying to play the game on GeForce Now almost every day since the first day I bought it. The game hangs on the init… process on the Ubisoft screen. And no matter how long I wait, the game won’t open.


In some cases, players can access Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but after a few minutes, they will be kicked out due to network errors.

Ubisoft is already aware

Currently, the Ubisoft team is aware of the issue. The company is investigating about it, but there is no information on an estimated arrival date for a fix.

‘Majesty in the Dark’ mission stuck for some

Another reported issue affects player progress in the story. According to reports, some are unable to complete the DLC Mission ‘Majesty in the Dark’ (1, 2, 3, 4).

Apparently, a quest requirement is to talk to Toka (a character in the game). But, when players arrive at her location, they cannot interact with Toka, nor do any events trigger.

After meeting Charles the Fat, the quest says for me to meet Toka in Melund, but when i go to Melund, there’s no tracker, and i eventually find her in the Longhouse, no cutscene or interaction triggers, she is simply there with another 3 characters, doing nothing. Is there a fix?

According to Ubisoft, this is a known glitch that should have been fixed earlier. So, for the moment, they will continue to investigate about it in order to resolve it soon.
