Update 1 (February 08, 2022)

11:23 am (IST): Google released a fix for Bluetooth connectivity issue and some general improvements with its latest February 2022 update. This might also resolve other ongoing Bluetooth problems on Pixel 6 devices.

So, users still having issues where Pixel 6 forgets Bluetooth devices and the Phone app is not showing Bluetooth device names during calls should install this update and see if these issues get resolved.

Original story follows:

The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have managed to stay in the spotlight ever since they were launched in October last year.

While some said they are yet to run into bugs of any sort, many said they are tired of Google messing up the software.

That being said, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users have reported several issues with Bluetooth in the last few months, with the December update causing the devices to reboot into recovery when connected to Bluetooth audio devices.

Pixel 6 forgetting Bluetooth devices

Now, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro users are reporting that the phone is forgetting some previously paired devices. This is really irritating for everyone, especially for those who use Bluetooth headsets on a daily basis.

I paired several devices on mine and all of sudden they are all forgotten except the last one used. I tried restarting, off/on bluetooth and it keeps happening. Can anyone confirm these fixes will come in Jan’s update?

I’ve had this issue since I got the phone. Really frustrating. It creates an error with my car and blocks my map with a consent requesting connection that fails to connect. It seems to happen when I restart my phone. Which I did the other day. Huge pain. My watch , headphones, camera and it’s wifi network. I loose all saved connections

Pixel 6 Phone app not showing Bluetooth device names during calls

And as if this wasn’t annoying enough, users are reporting another issue where the Pixel 6 Phone app is not showing Bluetooth device names during calls.

This is causing many to be confused since they have to randomly choose between the connected Bluetooth devices and hope it is the one they want to switch to. You can see in the image below what it looks like.

I’m having this issue as well. Especially frustrating when I use my Bluetooth headset to initiate a phone call and it switches to my watch after the person answers ( separate issue probably). Hard to quickly determine what device it’s using and switch back while driving.

Phone app in Pixel 6 pro does not show Bluetooth device name during call. If two or more Bluetooth devices are connected to the phone, they all show up as multiple “Bluetooth” in the audio device list. It is hard to guess the correct Bluetooth device to Connect other than randomly choosing one by one.

Unfortunately, Google is yet to comment on any of these issues, making it unclear if and when they will be fixed. As always, we’ll keep an active track of the developments on this one and update the story, as and when required.
