Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular photo editing software that is used by millions of professionals and amateurs alike. The raster graphics editor is now part of the Creative Suite subscription.

But lately, users have reported numerous issues that make it borderline unusable such as the hard-to-see brush icon bug or the slow Curves performance issue on Mac.

With some of these issues are haunting users for quite some time now, it looks there is another bug that hasn’t been fixed yet.

Back in September of 2021, Photoshop users reported a zoom issue where the windows view is too small for the image when opened on an external monitor.

They were frustrated since Photoshop acted this way even though they had plenty of space on their screen. It looks like the bug was introduced after v22.5 with some suggesting that v22.4.3 was working just fine.

I’m having the same issue, when I have Photoshop on my laptop’s external monitor the image window is smaller and does not show the entire view of the image. When I use Photoshop on my MacBook Pro 2018 with Retina dispaly, then it opens the file as expected, zoom size is correct and window size fits the zoom. Very frustrating and I wasted much time resetting prefs, uninstalling, reinstalling, reloading actions, workspaces, scripts, etc. And nothing worked to correct the issue.

Photoshop opens the document at the corret zoom level, but the window always appears at the size it should be on a retina display. This means when I open docuements on my Macbook Pro retina display (OS 11.4), the window is the correct size. When I open documents on my older external display, the zoom level is correct, but the window size is half the size it should be. So for example a small image will open at 100%, but the window is the size it would be if zoomed out to 50%. A larger image opens at (for example) 33%, but the window opens in the size it would be at a 16.6% zoom.

As it turns out, an Adobe Employee had commented on the matter and said that the Photoshop zoom issue was under investigation.

Hi all, Thank you for reporting this issue and adding votes to it. We have logged bug and our engineering team investigating a fix.

But months have passed by and it looks like the zoom issue still persists after the Photoshop v23.11 update.

Many are now wondering if it will ever be fixed. We hope Adobe comments on the matter and releases a patch that resolves the problem. When they do, we will let you know so stay tuned.
