Growtopia is a popular multiplayer online sandbox game with endless possibilities. Similar to Minecraft, players can farm, build worlds, trade, chat and engage in combat with other players in the PvP mode.

Developed by Ubisoft Abu Dhabi and Ubisoft Pune, the game was released in 2012 for iOS, Android, and Windows. Ubisoft released the console version in 2019 but shut down the servers in 2020 due to a lack of interest.

Like Minecraft, Growtopia has no end goals but instead features an achievement system that players can get by completing certain quests.

But in the last few years, players have repeatedly reported that they were automatically banned because of some reason or another. With reports dating back to 2017, it looks like players have encountered the bug every year.

In 2020, many players faced auto-ban because of a bug with acid blocks and the world architect item.

And according to recent reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) from Growtopia players, many are getting auto-ban left and right even though they did not do anything wrong.

Some say that a bunch of hackers are exploiting the auto-ban system and causing multiple players to get banned simultaneously. This is really serious since the ban lasts almost 60 days.

Here is what some Growtopia players affected by the auto-ban bug have to say.

There is a glitch or something where people are getting banned for no reason. I just went into a world from a broadcast and the owner broke or activated some block and everyone that was standing on it got banned. I just got banned for 60 days from this

i find it indeed amusing that the auto-banning systems could be manipulated so easily and all the filth which is out to ruin everyone’s day would have to do is throw a free bait (free items etc)and multiple accounts can get banned like this,bummer

Thankfully, Growtopia developers have commented on players getting auto-ban and said that they are aware of the bug. They also clarified that it is caused by the World Architect.

Also, the developers will be soon unbanning all affected accounts but there is no ETA on when it will be fixed. As always, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space when we have more information.
