Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, Fallout 76 is an MMORPG that was released back in November of 2018. Unlike previous installments that consisted of an offline campaign, Fallout 76 is an online-only game.

And even though the game is meant to be played with others, one can play solo either by avoiding interaction with other players or joining a private server.

Unsurprisingly, the game also features social elements that allow players to add friends and play or invite them to do certain tasks.

But according to recent reports (1,2,3,4,5) from Fallout 76 players, it looks like the friends list is not working anymore. Many say that the list is not loading or syncing for them.

Anyone else having issues with the Fallout 76 social menu at the moment? Hey community hope you’re all doing ok. Don’t know if this is just me but my friends list isn’t showing up at the moment which is really annoying as I have trades to do. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me? Is there a way to fix it at all or do I have to wait for Bethesda? (If I have to wait for them I suppose I’ll be waiting till Christmas 2023).

I was just playing in a private world with a friend, and suddenly, without either of us doing anything particular (I had just fast traveled to his camp, and he was crafting), he suddenly got kicked. I checked my Social Tab and he was just gone. So I went back to the main menu to check and was met with the message “Something went wrong while syncing your friends list. Your friends list will be unavailable. We will continue to retry in the background, so check back later. If the problem persists, please contact Bethesda Customer Service”. Anyone else having issues?

As it turns out, Bethesda Support is indeed aware of the issue with the Fallout 76 friends list and said that it is currently investigating the same. However, there is no ETA on when the problem will be resolved.

Hello! We are aware and are currently investigating this issue that some players are experiencing with the Social Menu. Please keep your eye out on our Twitter page for an update.

We hope Bethesda soon fixes the problem so Fallout 76 players can enjoy the game with their friends. When they do, we will update this space to reflect the same so make sure you stay tuned.
