[Update: Fixed] Origin & EA Desktop launchers down & not working (players unable to launch games), issue acknowledged

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 19, 2022) follows:

Origin and EA Desktop launchers are the two current Electronic Arts clients through which players can run their games on PC.

However, in the last few hours, multiple reports have emerged indicating serious problems with both launchers that do not allow any game to be launched.

More specifically, Origin and EA Desktop servers are down, and are throwing a ‘We’ve noticed your computer is currently offline’ error message to anyone who tries to run a game through them (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).

Origin and EA Desktop launchers down

All the reports coincide in the same situation. Players only get a message saying that they are offline when trying to launch a game through the Origin and EA Desktop launchers (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

I cannot open games on the ea app or on origin i get an error stating that my computer isnt connected to the internet which is not true as i downloaded the game on origin a few minutes prior. I have tried just about every solution i could find online, please help!

Every time I try to start Battlefield 2042 in Steam, I get this Origin message. I’ve reinstalled the game and Origin, turned off my AV and firewall, reset hosts file etc nothing is working. Other games work fine though. Is there an outage maybe?

The crash on the servers that support both Origin and EA Desktop is also reflected on the downdetector platform, showing the large number of related reports that have surfaced recently.

EA is already aware, no ETA for fix

EA is currently aware of the reported issues. The company is working on resolving the situation so that players can get back to enjoy their games again.
