Update 1 (January 15, 2022)

10:45 am (IST): The much-awaited January 2022 patch for Pixel 6 phones is now rolling out. And disappointingly, it does not mention any bug fix for the delayed notification issue that users were hoping for.

Original story follows:

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are arguably the best phones from Google so far. They come with Google’s self-developed Tensor chip, an extraordinary camera, and a distinctive design that makes them stand out in the Android market.

These much anticipated Android phones of 2021 are in talks not just because of those exclusive features they come with, but also due to the issues and bugs that their users encounter more often.

And adding to them, the previous December update also brought a handful of issues for Pixel 6 that further made users exasperated.

While some users managed to get rid of the glitches with Pixel 6 by either sideloading the December patch or reverting back to the previous version, many are still hoping that Google will resolve them in the upcoming updates.

And yet, the issues continue to pop up for these otherwise fantastic phones. The Pixel 6 owners are already disturbed by a recent glitch that generates a black screen whenever a notification arrives.

And now some users are reporting an issue where the notifications does not arrive on time. Users say that the notifications are getting delayed for some applications on Pixel 6 phones.

Here are some reports for reference:

Also having this problem. I still have my old Pixel 5 and that’s receiving notifications fine so it seems to be an issue with the 6 Pro specifically. Some take hours to come through and then will come through out of order, sometimes will keep coming through. It’s a complete mess. (Source)

Have the same issue and has to be the pixel 6 cause my pixel 3 never had any of these issues. I’ll get notifications for stuff I read hours ago and already deleted. (Source)

Users expect the issue to fix in January update

As apparent from the reports above and more (1, 2, 3), this issue has been there for a while now. And while reports are still coming in, some users are hoping that it will get resolved in the upcoming January update.

However, the same was expected with the December patch as well, but instead, it filled these handsets with such bugs which made these phones barely usable.

The previous December update was such a mess that even Google has to accept the fact and as a result, the company removed the download links from its official website to prevent any further downloads.

But we hope that this won’t be the case with the January 2022 patch that should be coming anytime soon for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones.

However, Google keeps on delaying the update for whatever reason. And as of now, there is no ETA as to when this update will start rolling out.

Rest assured, we will keep tabs on the new developments related to the Pixel 6 delayed notifications issue and update the space down below with the latest information, so stay tuned.
