New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on January 12, 2022) follows:

Destiny 2 is a multiplayer FPS developed by Bungie, released in 2017. The game usually receives content on a constant basis, as well as bug fixes.

Recently, Bungie rollout a hotfix with the v3.4.0.2 update. But, it seems that this update also brought a glitch related to the Colorblind mode.

According to multiple reports, the Colorblind mode settings in Destiny 2 are broken or not working properly. This especially affects people with visual impairments.

What is Colorblind mode?

For those who don’t know, Colorblind mode basically offers alternative color palettes for the game’s UI elements. These color palettes are tailored to various particular visual conditions.

In the case of Destiny 2, the Colorblind mode covers Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia. Each one has its own particular colors.

Although it is intended to address visual impairments, non-visually impaired players can use the Colorblind mode for alternate colors in the UI that they like best.

Destiny 2 Colorblind mode broken after latest update

Having said the above, Destiny 2 update v3.4.0.2 broke the option. Basically, the UI colors reportedly changed to other, more uncomfortable hues (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

Apparently this change was made on purpose by the company. By adjusting the colors, they wanted the interface to be more accessible to visually impaired players.

However, the change is not appealing to the players. They preferred the alternative color palettes that were available prior to the update (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Now, certain UI elements that were previously yellow are gray.

Colourblind mode changed after update.

Hey guys before the new update today my colourblind mode has changed like the enemies health bar is like a light grey not a bright yellow is it me or did they changed the colours on each colourblind mode?

Grey Names in Colorblind are Harder to See

I completely understand orange and yellow bars being different colors, that’s how it should be. But the grey names are very hard to tell if the enemy has health left. It’s also harder to see enemies in PVP with a healthbar that blends with back walls.

Bungie already aware, will revert the UI color palette

Bungie is already aware of the situation. The company says that they will work on improving the color setting for Colorblind mode in future updates. But, there is no ETA for it yet.

Don’t have a specific timeline on future changes, but many on the team are eager to improve our colorblind settings.

Many apologies for the inconvenience here, and we’ll get more info to y’all when we can!

For now, as an interim measure, Bungie will revert the Colorblind mode color palette in Destiny 2 to what it was prior to the most recent update.
