BanG Dream! Girls Band Party is a musical rhythm game available on iOS and Android devices. It is a fan favorite of Japanese culture, allowing popular J-Pop and anime songs to be played.

However, in the last few weeks, the players of BanG Dream! Girls Band Party have been suffering from an annoying crashing issue on Android that totally prevents them from being able to access the game.

This issue was reportedly resolved with an update, but in the end this was not the case, and complaints from affected players continue to surface. At least the cause of the bug has already been discovered.

BanG Dream! Girls Band Party crashing on Android

According to multiple reports, after a recent update on Android, the game crashes. This occurs mainly on the title screen. So, most of affected players can’t even log into the game (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

I’ve been playing this game since 2018 and it’s unfortunate that it’s become genuinely unplayable. The game keeps crashing and refusing to go past the title screen, and devs are completely ignoring it. Technical issues have been rampant for months but won’t even address it and won’t give compensation despite how many people can’t even open the game anymore.

Some players report that the issue is only present in the international version of the game. If you download the Japanese version of BanG Dream! Girls Band Party, the crash does not happen.

After the newest update , the game won’t let me in. It always crashes on the title screen (downloading data). I reinstalled the game and still no luck. Hope this gets fixed as soon as possible because I saw a lot of people having the same issue as me , Plus I wanted to try the new event! Update : I give up , I downloaded the Japanese version and it doesn’t have any issues.

An issue allegedly resolved, but reports continue

The game recently had a maintenance and received an update. This should have corrected the crash problem. However, complaints about it continue to surface.

They also reveal that, according to the developers’ findings, the problem lies with EN’s exclusive Ads system.

A workaround to mitigate the issue

However, there is a workaround that reportedly helps mitigate the issue. Basically, it is recommended to use mobile data and download a VPN to connect to a JP or SG server.

Crashing on Android? Here’s a workaround for those w/o mobile data:

Download ProtonVPN, and once downloaded, connect to a JP or SG server. While it may not work 100%, several people have reported it alleviating the crashing issue.

Hope this helps!
