YouTube TV is one of the most popular streaming services out there. The company recently overcame a major problem by signing a new deal with Disney, recovering channels like ESPN and ABC.

Like other similar services, YouTube TV is available on many platforms to boost its adoption. One of the platforms on which it can be enjoyed is the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

However, in the last few weeks, the YouTube TV app for the Amazon Fire TV Stick is not working properly. Many users report buffering or black screen issues while trying to enjoy the service.

Perpetual buffering or black screen on YouTube TV for Amazon Fire TV Stick

According to multiple reports, when running YouTube TV, all some users get is a black screen or eternal buffering. So, they cannot enjoy the content (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Hey guys, I recently purchased a Fire TV stick to watch YoutubeTV but I am having trouble loading it. Every time I select YTTV it goes to a black screen where it would normally load the logo and eventually the guide, except it won’t do that.

It just stays on that screen until I hit the back or home button to go back to the main page. After a few back and forths, it will eventually work but the last time I deleted it is because it never did.

Apparently, the only workaround users have found is to unplug/replug the device. But, the glitch will reappear, so it must be done several times a day, becoming a nuisance.

Usually 3-5 times per day, the Firestick will go into indefinite buffering. The simplest fix that I have found to resolve the buffering issue is to unplug/replug the Firestick but this is becoming a nuisance.

I’m wondering if anyone can answer any of the following questions:

Is this normal behavior? Does YTTV just not play very well with the Firestick?
Is there some kind of fix that can resolve this?
