Pokemon Unite is a MOBA game for mobile devices that is set in the successful Pokemon saga. The game follows the line of leaders of the genre like League of Legends, adding its own touches.

However, one of the most recurring complaints from Pokemon Unite players in recent months refers to a ‘broken’ matchmaking system. This did not correctly assign players to opponents according to their level.

It should be noted that this problem was allegedly fixed by the developers of the game. However, even after the tweak, the issues with the matchmaking system in Pokemon Unite continue (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Pokemon Unite matchmaking issues still present

Recent reports indicate that the matchmaking system in Pokemon Unite is not working properly. The following report describes a case of an Expert 3 player paired with a Top 100 Masters team (1, 2).

Ranked Matchmaking is Broken | Expert 3 Placed Against Top 100 Masters

As Expert 3, I shouldn’t be able to match with Master players. My guess is someone in the stack is Ultra or Vet and the matchmaker includes all valid rank options when creating a match. This seems broken to me and easily exploitable.

The alleged tweak previously made to the matchmaking system

As mentioned at the beginning, complaints about matchmaking in the game have been very recurring for many weeks. Because of this, the developers made some modifications in order to improve it.

But, even after these modifications, this type of case still occurs. The following report describes a mismatch in the allocation of teammates for matches. This places the player at a disadvantage.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but ever since the new matchmaking kicked in, I’ve always notice at least one premade on my team in my past 20 matches. How good these individual players are in their premade appears to be irrelevant, as simply queuing together appears to give them a higher MMR. More often than not, they unfortunately tend to be clueless.

At the moment, it only remains to wait for the developers to be aware that the adjustments made to the matchmaking system were not enough, and that they need more work in that regard.
