Heroes of the Storm update loop (137 MB download every time game's lauched) troubles players
Heroes of the Storm is the popular multiplayer game developed by Blizzard that brings together iconic characters from some of the most successful titles of the company (Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo).
However, for some time now, Heroes of the Storm players have been reporting an annoying bug that causes a persistent update loop, with a 137 MB download that starts every time they launch the game.
But, it is possible that the bug is not related to the game itself (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7). Furthermore, there is also a workaround that reportedly helps mitigate the issue.
Heroes of the Storm update loop, 137MB download every time the game is opened
According to multiple reports, this happens every time many players open the game. The launcher starts downloading a 137MB update for Heroes of the Storm, and will do it again the next time it runs.
i have to download 137 mb everytime i launch the game. what is going on?
everytime i quit the game it says a update is launching and completing .5 sec lafter. then when i launch the game it downloads a 137 mb “preparing game data” update, that little white popup.

Could be the fault of the Blizzard launcher, there is a workaround
It should be noted that the problem could not be related to Heroes of the Storm, but to the Blizzard launcher. In fact, similar issues have affected other company games, according to reports.
Currently the game downloads an unchanging 23MB file 3 times in succession every time you launch it, instead of simply caching it 1 time when the game is patched (it never changes during a patch). This is an issue that has affected this game and Starcraft 2 (same engine) for the past year or so.

But, players have discovered a workaround that reportedly mitigates the glitch. The process is shown in the following screenshot.

At the moment, it is not known when this bug will be resolved. After all, it has been going on for months, and there has been no official acknowledgement from the company.
Finally, if there is an update related to the matter in the next few days, we will update this article with the pertinent information.
