New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on December 10, 2021) follows:

Fortnite, the successful battle royale, is suffering from various performance problems in recent weeks that do not allow players to enjoy the game in the best possible way.

According to multiple reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), the performance issues significantly affect the experience.

Reported Fortnite issues include heavy FPS drops, low or capped FPS after chapter 3 update, reduced graphics quality, and limited FPS on menus.

Strong FPS drops affecting players in Fortnite

Players report notable FPS drops during gameplay for no apparent reason. And, this occurs even on PCs with high-end hardware (1, 2, 3, 4).

Fortnite still has frame drops with the Ryzen 5 5600x and RX 6600xt even with the new driver update.

I’m still getting frame drops on fortnite from like 200+ plus then down to 50-80 fps(comp settings), it drops for a sec then goes back up again. And when I cap my fps to 144fps it’s almost unplayable. All drivers and chipset are updated, fresh new install windws, SAM enabled, and still nothing. AMD patch notes said they fix fortnite. Any ideas why? Appreciate any answers I get.

Fortnite chapter 3 update reportedly brought lower graphics quality and capped FPS

Fortnite Chapter 3 update has been available for a couple of days. But, it seems that the update brought some performance problems, and even lower graphic quality (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

According to reports, after Chapter 3 update, the graphic quality was reduced compared to Chapter 2.

Anyone noticed that the graphics quality is lower than chapter 2 ?

Don’t know if it’s only happening to me or my eyes have been fcked up. I am playing fortnite on xbox series X with a 1440p 144 hz monitor. My settings is set to 1440p 120 fps. Fortnite does support next gen 120 fps on 1440p. When I was playing C2, the graphics used to look bright and shiny and more detailed texture. But since yesterday, the graphics is feeling not that vibrant like C2, not that colourful or sharp like C2.

In addition to the above, the FPS are limited or capped after the aforementioned update. Before, players reportedly got much higher refresh rates.

Chapter 3 Low FPS

Hi, I normally get about 120 fps, but now in chapter three I get about 30-60. Anyone else have the same problem?
