Just in case you’re trying to get your head around why the Nintendo Switch e-shop isn’t working for you, find solace in the fact that you aren’t the only one facing issues lately.
A quick look at the micro-blogging site Twitter conveys there are many others affected by the same issue. Users say eshop is throwing error 2137-8056 instead (and all this is happening at the perfect time of Christmas eve).

When players visit the Nintendo website, this is what they see. Nintendo also said that they have no plans to perform server maintenance right now.
Any official word on the matter? Yes. What’s relieving is that Nintendo has officially acknowledged the issue with the service status page saying:
