Samsung recently released Android 12 on a bunch of devices. The new Android version also marks the launch of One UI 4.0.

And as expected with every new software update, those who updated to the latest version have reported bugs and issues that ruin the user experience.

That being said, a few weeks ago, users complained that the notification font was too small on Galaxy S21 devices while with some saying that they were not getting notifications for text messages.

Now, those who updated their devices to One UI 4.0 say that they are unable to use VoLTE. Many say that the option isn’t available.

Reports suggest that the issue surfaced after upgrading to Android 12. It is a really serious issue since more and more network carriers are dropping 2G and 3G and relying on VoLTE for both voice and data.

Even the basic troubleshooting steps like installing Google Carrier Services and resetting the phone seem to make no difference.

I have recently updated my phone to Android 12 One UI 4.0 After the update my phone doesn’t connect to VoLTE or VoWIFi on all networks in India. I tried Airtel, Jio and Vi. Also earlier when I was using the device I didn’t had the option for 2 SIM but now after the update I see Dual SIM card support (eSim and Physical SIM).

Today, One UI 4 stable version was rolled out. I upgraded to this G998U1UEU4BUK7 version. To my frustration, VoLTE and WiFi calling stopped working again. This means that anyone who has a Samsung S21 series phone (or maybe any Samsung phone) with OneUI 4 will have the same problem. You won’t be able to use it outside US. I am assuming the network auto switch feature which Samsung introduced with One UI 4 is causing this issue. I had been trying to get some help from the Samsung team, but none has been able to help so far.

It is interesting to note that the issue was also present in One UI 4.0 Beta. Samsung users are wondering and asking developers how bugs like these make it to the stable release and if they test the builds before releasing.

With reports dating back to the first week of December, many are wondering how long Samsung will take to acknowledge and fix the issue. Right now, it looks like those affected by the One UI 4.0 VoLTE issue might have to live with it for an indefinite time period.

Rest assured, we will be keeping an eye out on the matter and update this space as and when required, so stay tuned.
