New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 18, 2021) follows:

Roku is one of the most popular Smart TV platforms out there. However, lately it has been experiencing many operating problems.

Roku users are reporting that some apps are not working well, throw network errors or just crash. Everything would have started after a recent update.

Some apps not opening, crashing or giving network error on Roku devices

According to user reports, some apps on Roku started to take a long time to open, while others never did it.

Also, nothing that affected users have tried to resolve the problems has worked. Neither router reboots nor a factory reset to the device managed to help.

I have a Roku TV in my living room and have had no problems since I put it up in April. Yesterday I went to use it and noticed it wasn’t working right. Some apps took a long time to open and then took forever to start playing a video (YouTube, Netflix ) or other apps wouldn’t open at all (Disney+, Hulu, prime video). Thought it was the router so I reset it, but that didn’t help. Restarting the tv didn’t fix it either. I finally factory reset it but that didn’t work. Router says it’s connected just fine, Wi-Fi setting also say the same on the tv. Nothing has changed in my setup so I’m completely stumped on what could be causing the problem.

Roku’s v10.5 update reportedly brought the issues

The problems reportedly started after the arrival of the v10.5 Roku update. This update seems to have been forced by the devices, so users could not have avoided it.

Roku forced an update to 10.5 tonight and now my Roku Ultra won’t open any apps
I have a 4670x Roku Ultra and, out of nowhere, the Roku restarted itself and opened with a screen about the new 10.5 update. A short while later, I attempted to open an app and got only a white box with “Loading” and a swirling circle. Left it there for a few minutes and nothing happened. I performed a system restart and tried again. Same thing.

Reports of network errors and app crashes on Roku had already emerged for several months. In those cases, the apps involved will be HBO Max and ESPN+.

Hi, I click on HBO Max and it will not start. It says application error, lost connection to the server, error code:32. I can play HBO max on another device, so the issue is specific to Roku.

Thanks in advance for any help.
