Original story (published on November 23, 2021) follows:

Since Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are launched, users have been complaining about various kinds of issues with these handsets. And it seems that the streak of bugs is not over yet.

A section of Google Pixel 6 users are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) issues with the HSBC banking app. Users say that they can’t download this app from PlayStore and it throws an error message – ‘Your device is not compatible with this version.’

Users can’t download HSBC banking app on Pixel 6

Many users took to Twitter, Google forum, and Reddit complaining that they are unable to download the HSBC banking app on their Pixel 6 devices that come pre-installed with Android 12.

Here are some reports for reference:

@HSBC_UK there is no app compatibility with the HSBC UK android app and my phone, which is the Google Pixel 6. I am trying to log on with my laptop but I can’t get in without a DSK, which I can’t generate because I don’t have access to the mobile banking app. What to can I do? (Source)

@HSBC_UK when are you planning to make the banking app work on pixel 6? I’ve tried to look online but can’t find any information. Based on how important a digital secure key is now this must be a priority (Source)

As apparent from the reports above, it clearly seems that the HSBC app is incompatible only with Pixel 6 devices, while the other Pixel phones with Android 12 can easily run this application.

On the brighter side, HSBC is reportedly aware of this glitch with Pixel 6 and said that the devs are currently working on a fix. Moreover, the upcoming app update should fix this issue, so users have to wait until then.

Hi William, thanks for reaching out this morning, we appreciate your thoughtfulness here! We are aware of the issue with our HSBC Mobile Banking App with the Pixel 6’s, and please be assured that our digital team is currently working very hard to resolve this issue.^XP (1/2) (Source)

We hope that this bug gets fixed as soon as possible since the Pixel 6 users aren’t able to use the HSBC banking services.

That said, we will keep you updated on the further development of Pixel 6 HSBC app not working issue as and when anything new comes to our notice.
