New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 30, 2021) follows:

The Google Home app is one of the most widely used and supported apps when it comes to smart devices. It allows users to control devices such as tube lights, lights, switches, thermostats, and many more from within a single window.

Released in July of 2013, the Google Home app is compatible with thousands of smart devices and reduces the hassle of installing apps if you happen to own devices from multiple vendors.

With that being said, developers do add and remove some features from the app in an effort to improve the overall user experience. Nonetheless, users often report some bugs and issues with recent reports suggesting that users are unable to find their LG Soundbar.

Some say that the bug is really infuriating since they now have no way to see the soundbar from the app, but interestingly controls and volume controls seem to be working just fine.

With some user reports dating back to December of 2020, people are frustrated by Google’s lack of acknowledgment and willingness on fixing the problem at hand.

My LG app was no longer able to detect the soundbar a few weeks ago so I deleted it from my Google Home because it couldn’t find it either and attempted to re-add, but no dice. Google can’t find it at all, which means I can’t use the LG all either as it requires it to first be paired in Google Home.

Trying to connect my LG soundbar to wifi which must be done thru the Google Home app. Follow the steps. I hear the sound indicating it can see the soundbar. I enter wifi password and then get an error message Could not communicate with your LG SN Series ThinQ Soundbar. I have tried Uninstaller Google Home app. Can’t figure out how to hard restart Soundbar. I had the working and now cannot reconnect.

Users also claim that they are facing the same issue on JBL speakers as well, indicating that the Google Home app is at fault here.

Fortunately, it turns out that a Community Specialist had shed some light on the issue where the Google Home app wouldn’t connect to LG Soundbar. The developers said that it is currently under investigation and are asking users for more details.

Hi there, Thank you for waiting and I appreciate your patience. I would also like to add that the way 3rd party speakers can be linked to the Google Home app varies by brand and model. Would you mind providing me with the complete model name of the LG sound bar that you’re using to provide to our team so they can further investigate?

Judging by the Community Specialist’s reply on the matter, it looks like a fix is not in the works and might take quite sometime. As always, we’ll keep an active track of the developments on this one and update the story, as and when required.

Update 1 (December 07)

As it turns out, a Google Community Specialist has shed some light on the matter. They are asking users to reach out to LG because it might be an issue with the older firmware.
