Android 12 is without a doubt the most notable upgrade to the operating system in the last few years. Apart from Google making significant changes to the user interface, the latest from Google also features several under-the-hood changes.
But it looks like not everyone is happy with the new user interface. Many have already expressed their frustration with the default squarish lock screen clock design.
With that being said, Pixel users who upgraded to Android 12 are reporting a multitude of issues with the lock screen notifications. Many say that when they swipe down on the lock screen after unlocking the device, Android 12 shows the quick settings menu instead of notifications.
Moreover, it looks like for some, the lock screen only shows the info for only the first notification if you have multiple notifications. This makes it impossible to view notification details without unlocking the phone.
Some also say that they are unable to reply to nofications from the lock screen itself. Instead of replying to notifications, Android switches to the last launched app, which is really annoying.
Can’t seem to get the lock screen to display the full detailed notifications. Instead I just get the little app icons, which I have to tap to then get the detailed view. I want the detailed view as soon as I turn the screen on. Can somebody point me to the correct setting? Not using AOD / ambient display or whatever it’s called these days.

Normally if you swipe down once it’ll show your notifications with 4 quick access toggles, and if you swipe down twice it’ll show all of your quick access toggles. Ever since updating to Android 12, if I swipe down immediately after unlocking my phone, it’ll pull down the entire notification area and show all 8 of my quick access toggles. I then have to swipe up to show the notifications. This ONLY happens if I swipe down immediately after unlocking my phone (either via fingerprint or PIN unlock). Has anyone else had this issue? It’s a very minor inconvenience, but something that’s just been bothering me.

With Google yet to say anything on the Android 12 lock screen notifications issues, it is still unclear if this is the intended behaviour or bug indeed. As always, we’ll keep an active track of the developments on this one and update the story, as and when required.
In the meantime, make sure to take a look at our dedicated Android 12 bug tracker to see which issues affect users.
