New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 26, 2021) follows:

Google Photos is a widely used photo and video sharing and storage service that comes pre-installed on Android devices along with Google services. It is also available for iOS users via App Store.

Google keeps on updating its Photos app with new features and improvements in a bid to make it more fluent and easy to use. However, not all update brings improvements, some of them might also carry bugs that are enough to disturb users.

Recently, Google seeded a new update to its Photos app on iOS with version 5.67. It mentions fixing some user-reported issues and added new features for better sharing options.

Having said that, some iPhone users are now reporting (1, 2, 3) issues with the app. Users say that since updating the Photos app to the latest version, they are experiencing lag issues.

Here are some reports for reference:

Same here, the last couple of days on my iPhone 11 running the latest available version 5.67 (from a week ago). Have tried reinstalling twice & no change. Basically any task slows the app down & occasionally crashes. (Source)

In the last week or so I’ve found that the iOS app is sticking for most functions. It does eventually do what I want but it’s usually fluid all the time. I’ve already reinstalled the app with no luck to fix this. App is up to date as well, version 5.67 from a week ago.(Source)

As apparent from the above reports, this issue is clearly caused by the recent app update. As per reports, the app freezes and lags which makes it hard for users to scroll through it or use its basic features.

Users say that any task makes the app slower and it also crashes occasionally. This is making Google Photos extremely unusable.

Those affected have even tried some basic troubleshooting steps such as re-intalling the app, clearing cache/data, and turning off backups, but no luck.

Meanwhile, a product expert on Google’s community forum asked users to report this bug directly to Google using the feedback option under your profile-circle in the Photos app.

Unfortunately, Google has not yet acknowledged this glitch with its Photos app on iOS and we hope that Google notices this bug soon and issues a fix for the same.

Rest assured, we will keep you updated on the further development of this story as and when anything new comes to our notice.
