Ruined King: A League of Legends Story crashing during cutscene acknowledged; Combat issue surfaces too

In case you are familiar with the League of Legends lore and want to learn more about it, then Ruined King: A League of Legends Story might just be the game for you. It is a turn-based RPG game that is set in the same universe as League.

Developed by Airship Syndicate and published by Riot Games, it is a spin-off to the League of Legends with the player set to find the cause of a corrupting force called Black Mist.

The game was scheduled to come out sometime in 2019 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the game released on November 16, players are already facing an issue that is making it unplayable for many.

According to recent reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), Ruined King players say they are unable to play the game since it is crashing during the very first cutscene in the game. This is really a dealbreaker for those who have waited a long time for the title to come out.

hi. so my game keeps loading in a black screen after the first cutscene of the game and doesn’t let me into the game, anybody knows whats the problem? i’ve tried to restart my pc and re-launch the game but still can’t access the game,and i’ve tried to uninstalled it 3 times and install it again on 3 different drivers… and still don’t know the problem is, my gpu is updated but i can’t seem to know the problem i’ve been on this waiting for at least 2 hours with no fix. here’s my spec if it would help CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K GPU:NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 16GB of rams.

So I started the game and everything seemed to be working great. Then i watched a bit of a playthrough on youtube and saw that the game has cutscenes that I never saw. I didn’t get the one with Viego that plays just after opening the game, nor the introduction to MF and Illaoi. I checked to see if they are intact in the game files and sure enough I can open them with a media player but the game somehow just refuses to play them. Tried a different save file, didnt help either. Anyone having this problem or know anything about it?

It looks like the issue lies somewhere on Riot’s end since players since reports are coming from different platforms. Fortunately, Ruined King developers have acknowledged the issue and said they are working on a fix.

As if this wasn’t enough, those who were able to avoid the aforementioned crashing issues are reporting a bug with the first combat in the game where the player cannot choose any ability or attack. Others say they are unable to switch targets in-game making it really hard to play.

Hi guys, is there any problem on combats on Switch? I can’t choose the enemy (for example, if there are 2 enemies in combat I want to attack bot enemy but can’t select him..) Same with heals on my group. Is there a problem or is the game like that? On PC or PS is similar?

Anyone else being stuck in the first combat encounter? can’t chose ability or attack anything. it just softlocks and the characters just stand there. the music’s still playing and everything. Can’t just do anything except listen.

With Riot yet to acknowledge the combat bug, it is still unclear how long they might take to fix the issue. If and when they do fix the crashing and combat issue with Ruined King, we will update this story so stay tuned.
