New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 16, 2021) follows:

macOS 12 Monterey is the latest version of Apple’s system for Macs. Since its arrival, users have found some bugs or issues that need to be resolved.

Recent reports indicate that the universal clipboard feature is not working properly for some macOS 12 Monterey users. Also, others are also having problems using AirDrop.

Universal clipboard not working for some on macOS 12 Monterey

The universal clipboard feature may not be working well for some after upgrading to macOS 12 Monterey. According to reports from affected users, it would only be working in one direction (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

Universal clipboard allows users to copy-paste text and pictures between different Apple devices. For example, you can copy text or images from a MacBook and have it available on an iPhone or iPad.

However, with the arrival of macOS 12 Monterrey, some users report that they can only copy text and images from an iPhone/iPad to a MacBook, but cannot do it the other way around.

Hello all. I suddenly have this issue after updating my M1 Mac Mini to Monterey 12.0.1. Universal copy paste ONLY works from iPhone/iPad TO Mac Mini.

I cannot copy text FROM Mac Mini to my iPhone/iPad.

I tried: rebooting all. Forgetting my WiFi and reconnecting all devices to it again. Closing/opening WiFi/Bluetooth to all devices.

This problem is not exactly new. During the beta stage of macOS 12 Monterey, some users reported the same bug:

AirDrop also reportedly doesn’t work for some

Some users report that the AirDrop feature is not working properly either. AirDrop is a wireless way to exchange files between compatible Apple devices.

As in the case of the universal clipboard, some users report that they can use Airdrop in only one direction. That is, they can only transfer files from iPhone to Mac, but cannot do the opposite.

I was able to use Airdrop between a Mac and a phone (iOS) prior to installing Monterey.

After a clean install of Monterey, the phone does not show up in Airdrop on Finder. I have worked through every setting I could find.

have checked both are connected to the same wifi network
bluetooth is enabled on both devices
both devices are set with “Airdrop everyone”

I can airdrop from the phone to the mac but not the other way around.

But, there are also users reporting that AirDrop is not working for them in any way:

The problem reportedly occurs when there is a Mac in the middle of the process. So, when the transfer is between two iPhone/iPad, it works well.

i have the same issue sending files from the mac to my iphone 12 pro. sending and receiving between my iphone 12 and ipad pro works perfectly so i think it’s the issue with the mac after the update. it’s seeing my iphone but when i try to transfer nothing happens. and this issue is happening to my imac too.

At the moment, there is no official statement from Apple in this regard. So, it is not known if they are aware of the complaints.

In the coming days, if there is any new development in this regard, we will update this article. You can also check the bug/issues dedicated to macOS 12 Monterey.

Update 1 (November 20)

05:15 pm (IST): A Redditor confirmed that AirDrop was being blocked for them due to AdGuard. Here’s what they recommend doing to fix it:

AdGuard was blocking this for me FYI.

FIX: open AdGuard settings -> Gear -> Advanced -> Advanced settings -> Change network.extension.monterey.force.split.tunnel to true value (Source)
