New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 10, 2021) follows:

Back 4 Blood, the multiplayer FPS from the creators of Left 4 Dead, has been very successful since its launch. However, there are still a few things to fix in the game.

Many Back 4 Blood players are reporting issues that affect the experience. One of the problems would be an error after updating the game from Microsoft Store Game Pass.

Additionally, other players are complaining about the exaggerated high rate of special zombies spawn. Also, the melee builds nerf is being a big problem for many.

Error on Microsoft Store Game Pass is crashing Back 4 Blood

Some Back 4 Blood players report not being able to access the game after a recent update that came through Game Pass Microsoft Store:

Hi. Just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced an error after today update.

I was playing just fine until I noticed there was an update available. Went to the Microsoft Store, updated then I was not able to launch the game anymore.

I tried contacting WB support but their solution did not work partially due to Windows permissions on the WindowsApps folder (remove and add again to firewall app permissions).

I also tried reinstalling but to no avail. I was playing just fine and even though the melee nerf is bad I would like to be able to continue playing… Any help is appreciated!

The issue has already been listed on the Back 4 Blood bug reporting platform. In the report, there are other players who confirm that they suffer from the same problem.

Special zombies/infected spawns (respawn rate) not fixed

One of the problems that have raised the most complaints among Back 4 Blood players since its launch has been the high rate of special zombies spawn (1, 2, 3, 4).

According to the game developers, the special spawn issue should already be resolved:

However, some players are reporting that the problem not only would not have been resolved, but that it could be even worse than before:

Played act 2 handy man, before I even managed to make it across the road to the police station had already killed 4 tall boys 2 reekers, 2 retches and 4 hockers, then 2 more tall boys spawned in the police station, after all the melee nerfs I really hoped for less specials

The melee builds nerf is being criticised

Another reported issue has to do with the melee nerf in Back 4 Blood. Apparently, the melee attacks in the game were ‘overpowered’, which was recently adjusted.

However, many players are unhappy with this. Reports indicate that many have developed melee-centric builds, which have now been notably weakened.

Horrible melee nerfs, I was working my way through vet hoping to tackle nightmare eventually. This killed all progress, even harder to play with randoms. Regret buying at launch… Tired of this 💩. Eff you guys, I’m out.

This situation is worse for players who developed melee builds because the special infected spawn issue is still there. Now, it will cost them much more to compete in each match.

For now, it is not known when the fix for the errors described above will arrive. In the coming days, if there is any new development in this regard, we will update this article.

Update 1 (November 11)

05:25 pm (IST): A user claims that they were able to fix the problem by updating to the latest available version of Windows.

A working solution is updating Windows to the latest version (20H2 for me, 21H1 for others). Thanks for all the help in this post!! (Source)

Update 2 (November 12)

10:42 am (IST): Turtle Rock Studios now note that they have identified an issue related to Specials spawning.

They suspect their spawn cards are being repeated unintentionally and say they are actively working on a fix.
