The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMO RPG that has built a solid community of players since its launch. However, it seems that it is currently suffering from an annoying interface bug.

Some players of The Elder Scrolls Online on Xbox reports that there is a constant pop up window that can appear at any point in the game, severely interfering with the experience.

The Elder Scrolls Online UI error on Xbox reported by players

According to reports from affected players, there is a ‘UI Error’ window that appears persistently and for no reason on the screen at any time (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Just finished update 32 and loaded in after the servers came back online to find a white box in the middle of the screen (as an eso addon would work) and not be able to close it ( . Does not enable the mouse) was wondering if others are having similare issues

So, I’m exited from all chats, including area… but this happens all the time. Basically the UI Voice Chat error overlay will pop up every 3 seconds. In this video I’m in group chat in a dungeon, but it wouldn’t matter if I was or was not in the chat – the UI error remains the same. You have to “x” out of it – and if you don’t, then another appears invisibly over the top and you’d have to “x” twice… so if you leave the console for a few minutes… you’ll be having to hit “x” about 50-60 times to clear it…

If you’re caught holding block and you have to hit “x” you’ll dodge roll (costing stamina) – which makes tanking practically impossible.

It should be noted that the pop up window can begin to appear in any menu and map of the game. That is, it can be present either by customizing a character, or during a battle.

This interface bug is especially troublesome when it starts to appear during hard battles, and can cause the player to lose the game.

Some workarounds that may help

Some players report that there are workarounds that can help, while they wait for an official fix.

One of the workarounds is joining and leaving all voice channels. The other consists of restart the game, then disable all the compass add-on:

Another workaround you can try is to delete the local Save Data on your console. this will only reset your options settings, so characters data will not be affected:
